The main differences between stainless Steel Tube Forming Machines and carbon steel tube forming machines lie in the following aspects:
1. Production process differences
Punching process‌. The punching speed of stainless steel tubes is slower, and the top head material usually adopts more expensive wood top heads (or special alloy top heads), while carbon steel tubes mostly use cheaper alloy top heads or civil top heads‌. The design of the punching pins also shows significant differences, as stainless steel tubes need to adapt to their high hardness characteristics‌.
Pickling process‌. Carbon steel tubes are mostly pickled with sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid, but stainless steel tubes, due to their excellent corrosion resistance, usually do not require pickling or adopt special treatment methods‌.
2. Equipment compatibility
The production equipment for carbon steel and alloy steel tubes cannot be directly used for stainless Steel Tube Manufacturing. There are fundamental differences in process parameters (such as temperature, pressure) and mechanical structures between the two‌. The processing of stainless steel tubes requires a more precise rolling system and high-temperature molds with higher precision, while the carbon steel equipment has lower requirements for hardness and corrosion resistance‌.
3. Material characteristic influence
Strength and processing difficulty‌. Stainless steel tubes have high strength (tensile strength of 500-700 MPa, yield strength of 200-300 MPa), but poor plasticity, and require special equipment to avoid cracking; carbon steel tubes (tensile strength of 350-550 MPa, yield strength of 300-450 MPa) are easier to process.
Corrosion resistance‌. Stainless steel tubes contain elements such as chromium and nickel, and during processing, they need to avoid contamination; carbon steel tubes are prone to oxidation, so equipment needs to be equipped with anti-rust measures‌.
4. Application scenarios differences
Stainless steel tube forming machines are suitable for corrosion-resistant fields such as chemical and food industries; carbon steel tube forming machines are mostly used in conventional structural fields such as construction and machinery.
